Snapdragon quickly acquired the items he required prior to his next (final?) visit to the Prince of Frost and turned around to really emphasize to others that Frostnip is in danger and they should get going. But Falcor wanted to get the portal just right, Kitsu Miki wanted to double-check all her information before they left, Arja needed to speak to a few people while in New Rokugan, and Jay, well, nobody can find Jay but that’s normal. After encouraging Falcor for as long as possible, he gave up and sat upon the roof of the housing that Moshi Kurabu found for the party, thinking.
A soft blue glow behind him alerts him to a pixie-sized letter that flutters down behind him. Opening it, he reads:
So, yeah, you probably got someone to tell you about the trouble I got into with the Prince. I’ll probably be able to deal with it but might need an assist. Since I’ve got a little time before I escape, I thought I’d fill you in on what I’ve been up to.
I was able to meet with Kitsu Miki and told her about my search for Sharea’s Song that grandmother thought was important and seemed pretty useful in figuring out my own situation. I did tell her (and Kurabu) not to tell you about my mission because I think I can do it myself. And I did! But more on that later.
We heard that a mortal named Emory was hoarding all the information that could be found about the Before Times. He had contacted Kurabu about some books so I hid amongst the pages of one of them to see what I could find. I was in a giant floating castle for a while! But this Emory guy had a lot of books – even my patience was taxed as I read as many of them as I could while dodging golems in a weird library. In the end, I was successful – I found a really heavy book named The Fey Grimoire (really bad name – I mean, that’s like saying something is “a book about stuff” because every book I read was about the fey!). I started reading it in the library but didn’t know a bunch of the words from the old tongue so I had to pack it in.
The most fun part was that I was able to sneak into their storage and hijack a mortal-sized golem and pilot it for a while! Their anti-teleportation stuff was not letting me just leave with a gem Kurabu gave me so I had to sneak out. I was almost caught and had to pretend to be a guard for a while, protecting the library, but then some malfunctioning big golems came by to distract everyone and I was able to escape. Then the castle crashed, I assume – there was a big disruption as I exited and jumped off the castle.
Once I got back to see Kitsu Miki (thanks to Kurabu’s teleportation circles – they’re really weird, I think mortals are messing up the teleportation magics and breaking time/space or something, big “M”s everywhere), she knew what all the old words were and translated them for me. She totally told me not to try to sing them and I shouldn’t’ve – the Prince of Frost somehow picked up on me singing it and took me to one of his ice palaces! I mean, I’m in a nice room with some nice food and stuff to read and write but … he sounds like he might be crazy. He calls me Sharea sometimes, something about a marriage to somebody (not me), and then the whole place is slowly melting, like a place that’s just a degree above freezing.
He’s still really worried about the locket I have so I’m hoping I can put together an escape soon using it. But if you can create a distraction and/or possibly find me, then that would help too. -F”
